Things to Take

Packing:

I have always wondered what to take in my luggage when going abroad. Don't get me wrong last time we returned from Egypt we had to get rid of a lot of our stuff at the airport. What a waste!
I am in the unfortunate situation where we have to travel by air to a UK airport for the onward flights mostly to Manchester or Gatwick. Now BA operates from Heathrow I also have the added headache of getting the coach from Gatwick. All this done I do really enjoy my time away. Love my comforts. Wouldn't do a camping holiday never have done but the right person can always convince and change me!

Suitcase - Medium one so there is no temptation for overloading
Passport - Should be more than 6 months in date.
money - going all inclusive because of the children so shouldn't need much. Except if lady Dee goes mad on the designer stuff.
tickets - Electronic but still required
Swimming costume
Mosquito/insect repellent
Sun glasses
camera & under water ones will be handy if you enjoy water sports
Beach Towel ( these days most hotels will lend you a beach towel for free - 2/10/2014)
walking shoes & flip flops
Sarong /large scarf
Games for the kids (DSI etc and colouring materials)
European adapter - 220V/50Hz, continental-style two round-pin plug
Visa - 0207 591 6900 or  http://www.turkishconsulate.org.uk

TIP: I carry my laptop / IPad everywhere. This way I can take thousands of photos and download unto it as I go along. Always handy at some airports where there is free WIFI
You honestly do not need much clothing when travelling to somewhere hot. neither do you need loads of classy shoes.

TIPS:
A sure fire way of making sure you're within the limits of both the airline and the airport is to take as few bags as possible. Here are my top 10 tips for packing your suitcase.

1. Plan your outfits before you pack. Try and take clothes that can be mixed and matched so that you won't need to take as many.

2. Roll your clothes rather than folding them. This will not only save space but also reduces creases!

3. Don't take too many shoes. Wear the biggest or heaviest for travelling in. To save even more space, pack underwear and socks inside your shoes.

4. Take the bare minimum of toiletries. You can always share toiletries with your travelling partner and most likely be able to buy some when you arrive.

5. Use your beach bag as hand luggage. This will save taking a bag in your suitcase.

6. Split luggage with your travelling partner. This will help if one person packs more than the other. It will also help if one bag goes missing; you'll each then have at least some spare clothes.

7. Check with the hotel before departure if towels for the beach or pool are available. This will save valuable space and weight when packing if you don't have to take cumbersome towels with you in your case.

8. Pick up your holiday reading at the airport. You won't have to pack heavy books in your case and most airlines allow one bag of airport shopping to be taken in addition to your hand luggage.

9. Leave behind any toiletries you can before returning home. This will leave more space for souvenirs and shopping in your case.

10. If you've bought any shopping or souvenirs on holiday, consider posting them back home. This can often work out cheaper than packing them and paying excess baggage charges at the airport.
