DAILY PRAYERS

Happy New Year to all. Ghana is a predominately Christian country but most people in the Northern Region are muslims. I use to go to the Muslim union with my dear friend of blessed memory when we were in Tema Secondary school. Yaabor Abdulah - what a great mate.

God’s Peace,

Our Heart and our Treasure
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Luke 12:34
As we go into the new year let’s be retrospective and introspective. Yes, look back and look inward. Let’s be sure to take time to examine ourselves and the work of Christ in our lives to see if our treasure and our heart are synchronized.
In 1 Corinthians 11:28 we are told to examine ourselves before communing with the Lord. Make this self examination a time of spiritual reflection and soul searching. We must ask the Holy Spirit to take away all the things we placed in God’s way throughout this last year.
We must then allow Jesus to minister His cleansing and healing. And as we do, God transforms our thoughts, emotions, desires, and actions, aligning our treasure with our heart.
My prayer for us this week
"Lord we tremble and do not sin; when we are on our beds, we search our hearts and are silent. We offer the sacrifices of the righteous and trust in you LORD. In Jesus name, amen." Psalm 4:4,

This was sent to me by my sister:

Have a great week end.

Personal History

Mother Akuete’s journey to this point has been a success story in its own right. You can do it if you put your heart to it! In 1979, she was forced alongside her family toflee Ghana after a coup d’état.
After crossing the border into the neighboring country of Togo by foot and facing arrest in Benin, Mother Akuete eventually reached Nigeria, where she received political refugee status at the United States Embassy.

Having lost everything, Mother Akuete and her family were forced to start over in the United States.
Never wavering in her devotion to others, she worked two jobs to support her children, encouraging them to study and work hard.  In a testament to her support and love, her children have gone on to study at some of
America’s top universities, becoming successful businesspeople and doctors.

My first ever birthday day card from Moonpig, given to me by a special friend!
All of us in a collage
I spent the Christmas and New Year with the family in Derby. I was there for two weeks and had a fantastic time with the grandchildren too. Went to Theirry's 3rd party and what fun, came home exhausted.
Had a meal at the Sizzling pub the food was fantastic. The whole family went too...... http://www.sizzlingpubs.co.uk/thestensonfieldsstensonfields/
I have been spoilt rotten and the grandchildren keep asking me to stay here forever.  Only if I didn't have other commitments. When was the last time I heard someone want me so much - I feel so loved and wanted and helps me escape the pressures of life. I truely and simply enjoy being around my family,just to enjoy the shouting and screaming and wanting music brings colour and energy to my daily routine.  This week we had;

  • Natasha Bedinfield
  • The wanted
  • King of Leon
  • Figadj's jingle
  • The script
  • Blackeyed peas
  • Cheryl Cole
  • Trinity band

Whatever your style is the children and auntie covered it in opera.

My daughter Figadj is a great artist this is a cartoon caricature of me and my baby Dee

Count down to Turkey

Pocket Guide:

28/5/2010 - Bought a pocket guide at lunch time - Turkish Coast. One hour is not really enough to look around I managed to find one in WH Smith after I have been in twice, I still didn't buy it had to go back after work to get it.
I checked Waterstones Marks and Spencer's and Thomas Cook but couldn't find what I wanted.

29/5/2010 - Went to weight watchers meeting on Broadway. I normally go on a Wednesday but only for weighing. It was really welcoming and felt at home. One could help themselves to tea/ coffee. Got a free magazine as well and people told us their successes. Good times! I was so happy as I lost 3 pounds -- yes! I went to Mount Murray on Thursday and the food was just out of this world. Rain!

30/5/2010 - Potted round the house doing nothing.

31/5/2010 -  Lovely day debating whether to have Domino's or not but I have a strong will power I had salad for Lunch and Jacket potato and Tuna plus vegetables for dinner. Being chatting all day and doing some research on the internet. Did a couple of interviews. All in all a very productive day. Watched the new 5show with Peter Andre (he looks very fit).

Picture of the hotel we will be staying.

Back Home

Goodbyes:
I really dislike having to say goodbyes. That is the only thing that brings a downer to a lovely break.
I have had a lovely break with the family. Having taken a week off work this is a well deserved holiday.
Today 4 May 2010, I leave in the afternoon to get to my destination - 35 min flight back home. The whole day is wasted trying to think how all my stuff (luggage) is going to go through check point without an excess. My beautiful daughter just said good luck to that.

BHX Airport:
Lo and behold my luggage weighed 24 Kgs and the wicked lady made me take some things out. Lucky for me I didn't have a hand luggage which can be up to 10 kgs. I have to squeeze items into the laptop bag. FLYBE why do you treat your clients this way?  Come back Manx Airlines those were the days never to come back again.
Used to be much cheaper to go on standby then.  Things have changed for the worse.

Trip to Ghana August/September 2009

Went to Ghana in August for less than two weeks. My mission was to go and visit some orphanage and sponser a room to be named after my late dad.

My dad died five years ago 9 December 2004. He was a very dedicated father who would do anything for his children. Did we know and appreciated this at the time -no we didn't- He was religious and was always doing things for the methodist church.

Things were not to be all I did most times was go on my lap top and visit family. I would love to go back but got so many people to visit in Australia, New Zealand and Maryland.
